DOH Update on COVID-19 Cases in the Philippines

DOH – The Department of Health released an update on COVID-19 cases in the Philippines today, April 23, 2020.

COVID-19 has affected over 200 countries across the globe. One of these nations is the Philippines which has now most of its cities and municipalities implementing quarantine.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte declared an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in the entire Luzon and a state of calamity in the whole Philippines. Limiting the movement of the people is in line with the pursuit to curb the spread of the disease.

Not only Luzon but as well as provinces in Visayas and Mindanao are implementing the ECQ. The people are advised to stay at home and to wear face masks when they are out for very essential purposes like the buying of food.

DOH Update Coronavirus Philippines

The Department of Health (DOH) releases a daily update about the COVID-19 cases in the Philippines. For today, April 23, 2020, a total of 271 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the country as to the health department. It brings the total to 6,981.

The health department also reported that 16 new deaths were recorded bringing the death toll to 462. With regards to the number of recoveries, 29 new patients have recovered bringing the recoveries to 722.

Luzon now is under an ECQ which will end this April 30. Pres. Duterte is expected to make a decision today on whether to lift, extend, or modify the ECQ in Luzon.
