Barangay Official Hits Rider’s Head Over Loud Motorcycle Pipe
A barangay official was arrested after allegedly hitting a rider on the head over the loud exhaust of his motorcycle in Ilocos Sur.
A 25-year-old government employee was hospitalized after he was allegedly struck on the head by a barangay kagawad following a dispute over the loud exhaust of his motorcycle in San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur.
According to the San Ildefonso Police Station, the victim, who is a resident of the area, was reportedly riding his motorcycle around the barangay. Authorities said the motorcycle was fitted with a modified muffler that produced a loud noise, which caught the attention of a 55-year-old barangay official.
Police said the kagawad approached the rider and called his attention regarding the noise coming from the motorcycle. However, instead of stopping, the rider allegedly continued driving around the area. It reportedly upset the barangay official and led to a confrontation.
Investigators said the suspect became angry and allegedly struck the rider on the head using a piece of bamboo. The victim suffered a head injury and immediately needed medical attention.
Residents and responding authorities quickly assisted the injured rider. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment for the wound he sustained during the incident. His condition was not immediately disclosed, but medical personnel attended to his injuries.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they reportedly found the suspect still holding the bamboo believed to have been used during the attack. The barangay official was taken into custody and later arrested.
Authorities identified the suspect as a farmer who also serves as a barangay kagawad in the community. He is currently under police custody while the necessary charges are being prepared against him.
Police continue to investigate the incident to determine whether there were other factors that may have contributed to the altercation aside from the issue involving the motorcycle’s loud exhaust.
