Gerald Anderson spoke about working with Robin Padilla
Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson defended Senator Robin Padilla’s casting in the ABS-CBN series Blood vs Duty, stating that political controversies should not overshadow his work as an actor.
When the actor-politician was introduced as one of the cast members of the said series, which also featured Richard Gutierrez, fans and netizens expressed negative reactions.
Some netizens stated that the Senator should no longer be given a platform. It is known to many that Padilla’s political views are quite controversial.
On Monday, July 13, speaking at the show’s finale press conference, based on that article in Inquirer, Gerald Anderson emphasized that Sen. Robin Padilla should be judged strictly as a professional performer once he is on set, regardless of his current issues in the Senate.
“Pag tapak mo sa set, wala na ’yon. Hindi kasama ’yon. At the end of the day, artista. Nandun siya, binabayaran din siya para magtrabaho. Kung baga, isa siyang aktor. Isa siyang idol,” Gerald stressed.
The Kapamilya actor mentioned that Padilla was ideal for the role of Ahmad Mustapha, a fictional Muslim leader and upright presidential aide who operates as a secret ally to Anderson’s character, Jalil.
“And for that kind of role na si Sir Mustafa, I don’t even think may ibang babagay dun, bilang isang Muslim leader. And sa totoong buhay siya ay Muslim leader. So pag tapakin mo sa set, labas na po yung mga politika. We’re just trying to make a good project para sa audience natin,” Gerald emphasized.
Meanwhiile, Gerald Anderson also had a striking statement about the late basketball player Rene Baterbonia. He said that it was a waste that the promising athlete died even before his career skyrocketed. The actor personally visited the wake to share support and sympathized with the Rene’s family.
