Sitio Zapatera in Cebu Records 82 New COVID-19 Cases

SITIO ZAPATERA IN CEBU – The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that 82 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Barangay Luz in Cebu City.

Several parts of the Philippines were hit[-hard by the 2019 coronavirus or COVID-19, a pandemic that urged authorities in several countries to lock down borders.

The said disease that was first recorded in China has infected over 2 million people across the globe now. Unfortunately, in their fight against the disease, more than 130,000 people lost the battle.

In the Philippines, there is a total of 5,660 cases of coronavirus confirmed in the country now. Out of the number, 362 died while 435 patients recovered from the disease.

Recently, in Cebu City, an area in a barangay was considered as infected by the Department of Health (DOH). The said area is Sitio Zapatera in Cebu City’s Barangay Luz.

The mass testing was set to stop following what the DOH saw in the area. An update recently crossed the surface.

Based on a report on Sunstar, 82 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Sitio Zapatera in Ceby City. The recent addition prompted Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella to lock-down the barangay.

According to the report, aside from the 82 new cases in Barangay Luz, two (2) cases of coronavirus were recorded in Barangay Labangon. According to DOH-Central Visayas Director Dr. Jaime Bernadas, the new records are from the 290 swab samples processed.

The swabs were processed by the sub-national laboratory of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. Two (2) hundred of it are from Sitio Zapatera while ninety (90) are from Barangay Labangon.
