BILL GATES – Co-founder and former CEO of Microsoft Bill Gates leaves the boards of Microsoft and Berkshire Hathaway to focus on ‘philanthropic priorities’.

American business magnate, software developer, investor, and philanthropist William Henry Gates III or best known as Bill Gates is a co-founder of Microsoft Corporation. Being in this huge corporation, he held positions such as chairman, chief executive officer (CEO), president, and chief software architect. This is while, until May 2014, he holds the title as the largest individual shareholder.

Since 1987, he never got excluded in the Forbes list of the world’s wealthiest documented individuals but in 2017, Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos surpassed him and replaced him on the top list. And in 2019, he is still behind Bezos at the second spot of wealthiest persons in the world.

And now, Gates is stepping down to leave the boards of Microsoft and Berkshire Hathaway as the 64-year-old co-founder intends to “dedicate more time to his philanthropic priorities”. Mirosoft CEO Satya Nadella in a written statements, “It’s been a tremendous honor and privilege to have worked with and learned from Bill over the years.”

Moreover, as per CNN, “Microsoft will continue to benefit from Bill’s ongoing technical passion and advice to drive our products and services forward. I am grateful for Bill’s friendship and look forward to continuing to work alongside him to realize our mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.”

Gates will remain of service to Nadella and other Microsoft leaders as technology adviser. In Berkshire Hathaway, his place will be given to former American Express CEO Kenneth Chenault. Gates served on Berkshire’s board since 2004.
