Forbes: Bill Gates Retained Title as the Wealthiest American

One of the world’s richest person, Microsoft founder Bill Gates retained his title as the wealthiest American according to the latest list released by Forbes. The world’s leading magazine Forbes listed a total of three founders of online companies joining the Forbes 400 List of Wealthiest people.

Bill Gates, the founder of software giant Microsoft held onto the No. 1 spot in the annual list of the 400 wealthiest Americans for the 22nd straight year, with an estimated net worth of $76 billion, down $5 billion from 2014.

Aside from Bill Gates, ranking at the No. 2 spot is Warren Buffett, the head of conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway whose net worth was estimated at $62 billion, while Oracle Chief Executive Larry Ellison ranked third with $47.5 billion.

Aside from Bill Gates and Larry Ellison, the other member of the Top 10 Wealthiest American from technology companies are Amazon founder Jeff Bezos at fourth place with $47 billion while Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg ranked at 7th place with a net worth of $40.3 billion while Google founder Larry Page landed at 10th spot with $33.3 billion net worth.

Forbes said the average net worth of the 400 members on the list stands at a record $5.8 billion, above the $5.7 billion last year. Total wealth is $2.34 trillion, up from $2.29 trillion in 2014.
