Davao del Sur Hit by 2.9 Magnitude Earthquake

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 2.9 magnitude quake in Davao del Sur today, February 22, 2019.

The awareness on what to do when quake hits is important as the shaking of the ground often comes with no clue. Recently, several quakes have jolted places in and out of the Philippines.

Inside the country, a 4.7 magnitude quake hit South Ubian in Tawi-Tawi. Prior to it, five(5) quakes have jolted Surigao del Sur.

Recently, another earthquake has hit a part of the Philippines. According to Phivolcs, they recorded a 2.9 magnitude quake in Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur.

In the bulletin released by Phivolcs, it is stated that the 3.5 magnitude quake in Davao del Sur was specifically located 06.73°North, 125.66°East – 028 km North 49° East of Santa Cruz.

The quake has a 048 km depth of focus and was tectonic in origin. It hit Santa Cruz at 03:48:18 in the afternoon today.

According to Phivolcs, no damage and aftershocks are expected of the said quake.
