The famous personality and sports enthusiast Gretchen Ho supports Hidilyn Diaz, a weightlifter, amid controversy with Monico Puentevella.
Hidilyn Diaz, as much as everyone is probably aware of, is our country’s pride in weightlifting bagging silver and bronze medals at the 2017 World Weightlifting Championships.
In a previous article, she is also an Olympian during the 2016 Rio Olympics scoring 200kg in the women’s 53kg category having a silver medal.
Moreover, she snatched the first gold medal of the Philippines in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia in the said sports.

However, issues and controversies seemingly recently thrown at her as she aired her frustrations in a letter which involves Monico Puentevella.
“Mr. Monico Puentevella is creating further misfortune to our sport . . . He must voluntarily do what is right. He must undergo election process if he really wants to be the president (of the Philippine Weightlifting Association),” she said as per the report from ABS-CBN last September 26.

The Kapamilya host and former UAAP volleyball player has posted, “Being outspoken =/= mayabang Minsan kailangan mo na talagang magsalita para sa ikabubuti mo at ng iba. Makinig naman kasi kayo, baka may punto. Good job [Hidilyn Diaz] for using your platform!!! Supporting you.”

A netizen from Bacolod City left a comment indicating, “I am from Bacolod and I know that Monico has alot of case needed to face. Politicians here in Bacolod are fighting mouth to mouth and it includes him. Hidilyn is really telling the truth. Nakakasad lng kasi ginagamit minsan ang mga atleta natin pra magkapera ang mga politiko.”
