Harry Roque stressed John Mark Calilung cannot authenticate VP Sara’s video
Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque asserted that he is the one who can verify or authenticate the video of Vice President Sara Duterte, which was recorded during a press conference in November 2024.
This concerns the controversial video of the Vice President in which she allegedly threatened the lives of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and Leyte 1st District Representative and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Following the falling out between the President and the Vice President, who were running mates in the 2022 elections, both camps have been striking against each other.
In his statement, based on the report from Balita, Roque stressed that National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Senior Agent John Mark Calilung is not the one who can authenticate the video in question.
“Who can authenticate the video: me since I broadcasted the video, any of the 42 [participants] including VP Sara and Atty Lyka; and FB. Di pwede si Calilung,” Roque said in his Facebook post.
He also stressed, “So far, video is inadmissible without authentication!”
Calilung served as a prosecution witness regarding the fourth article of impeachment filed against the Vice President.
It will be recalled that the first three days of the impeachment trial against the Vice President, with the Senate acting as the impeachment court, were held from Monday, July 6, to Wednesday, July 8.
Harry Roque is known as one of the allies of the Dutertes. Former President Rodrigo Duterte appointed him as his Presidential Spokesperson.
In 2019, Roque initially filed a certificate of candidacy but subsequently withdrew, citing health issues. Then, in 2022, he ran for senator under the UniTeam, but he failed. He is now classified as a fugitive from justice after fleeing the country following the POGO investigation in 2024.
