Davao Mayor Baste Duterte Speaks on Detention of Marcos Jr. Admin Critics
BASTE DUTERTE – The Davao City Mayor threw tirades against the government led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. anew.
Recently, some government officials who belong to the opposition were arrested by the authorities. One of them is Senator Rodante Marcoleta who was arrested for plunder over his supposed undeclared campaign donation.
The Office of the Ombudsman filed plunder charges against Sen. Marcoleta. According to Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, the plunder charges stems from the P75 million campaign donation that the Senator received but did not disclose to his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).
The Ombudsman stressed that they cannot just let past the “admissions” made by the Senator. According to Marcoleta, he received the multi-million donation from people who wanted to be anonymous.
The Senator claimed that some of the donors are his friends. According to the Ombudsman, there were three (3) paychecks that were allegedly given to Marcoleta and they total to P75 million.
Aside from Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, the Sandiganbayan also ordered the arrest of two (2) other individuals including former Anakalusugan party-list Representative Mike Defensor. He is also currently detained over alleged undeclared campaign donations.
Recently, Davao Mayor Baste Duterte was asked about the current detention of some critics of the government including Sen. Rodante Marcoleta. It is no secret to the Filipino people that the Senator and his father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, are allies.
“Mahirap talaga intindihin ang kilos ng gobyerno kung bakit may mga taong nakukulong ngayon kasi siyempre sila ‘yung nasa kapangyarihan. Kung sino ‘yung hindi sumunod sa kanila o ayaw sumunod sa kanila, paparusahan talaga nila ‘yan,” the Davao Mayor said.
Based on a post, Davao Mayor Baste Duterte further claimed that the Marcos Jr. administration allegedly want to remain in power and would punish those who will be againt them. According to him, there is supposedly nothing that the people can do to this type of government.
“Para hindi na humaba ang usapan, it’s because they’re on power on those that oppose them, they will do everything using the bureaucracy or anything and the law against people, those who oppose them. Wala tayong magagawa diyan eh mayroon ka talagang abusado na administrasyon,”
Shortly following his arrest, Sen. Rodante Marcoleta was brought to the hospital and the results of his X-Ray were recently released by the Philippine General Hospital.
