Fire Caught Metro Gaisano Ayala In Cebu City

The Metro Gaisano Ayala Cebu at the Cebu Business Park was caught by fire on Friday evening (January 05, 2018) during the mall’s closing time.

On Friday evening, the mall was supposed to close when a fire suddenly hit the third floor of the building, which allegedly started at the stockroom for toys around 9:30 pm, according to some witnesses.

The management of Metro Gaisano said that all the customers and personnel were safely evacuated after helping to broke out the fire inside the mall.

The Bureau of Fire Protection in Central Visayas had received the fire alarm around 10 pm. The fire reached Task Force Alpha who responded at 10:51 pm on the sixth alarm.

The firefighters find it difficult to enter the burning establishment due to the thick plume of smoke, according to Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella who personally witnessed the fire incident.

Labella also said that no one was left inside the building during the incident based on the initial reports. Local emergency units and police authorities have also responded to check the area.

As of 11:40 pm on Friday night, the smoke was still visible from the top of the building. The cause of the fire was still undetermined as of this writing.

Meanwhile, Ayala Center Cebu Emergency Brigade Team and Metro Ayala Emergency Brigade Team are working with the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) and other emergency teams to control the current situation.
