Security In Lanao Lake Area Intensified By Marawi Troops Against Enemy Reinforcement
The military troops in Marawi City have intensified the security in the Lanao Lake area after receiving reports of enemy reinforcement.
On Saturday morning (August 12, 2017), Armed Forces of the Philippines spokesman Brigadier General Restituto Padilla said that on the 81st day of the clash in Marawi City, the military troops assigned in the besieged city has doubled guarding the lake area for the possible enemy reinforcement.
Padilla also said that the militaries were already expecting the retaliation of the extremists, so they were making advance efforts to prevent the enemy reinforcement to enter the beleaguered city.
“Expected naman po talaga na magkaroon ng karagdagang puwersa ang kalaban dahil patuloy po silang nahihirapan sa pagkubkob natin sa mga natitirang area na kanilang pinagkulutaan. Ayon sa ground commander natin, may namo-monitor silang mga pagtatangkang pagpasok [ng reinforcement ng kalaban] lalo na sa side ng lawa [Lake Lanao] said by Padilla quoted by GMA.
The AFP spokesman said that they have already assigned some soldiers in the lake to during the third week of the bloody clash against the Maute Terror Group and the government troops.
The spokesman was also confident that no enemy reinforcement could enter the war zone to help the remaining members of the extremist group. He also said that there no confirmations yet on reports saying that the Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon was already dead.
