Edgar Matobato, the self-confessed ‘hitman’ of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, claimed that he saw the then-Mayor of Davao City kill eight times.
In the previous months, lots of headlines were sparked by the appearance of the self-confessed ‘hitman’ of President Duterte who was the former Mayor of Davao City. Lots of reactions as well were elicited by the claims of Matobato.
In a previous news report, it is stated that Pres. Duterte has once expressed that the act of Matobato can be considered as ‘subordination of evidence’.
The 71-year-old Chief Executive also shared that his son, Paolo Duterte, is also angry at Matobato for linking his name to the alleged extrajudicial killings in Davao City.
Matobato has also claimed that it was the younger Duterte who ordered the killing of Richard Lim King. The allegations and claims of Matobato were put down by Vice Mayor Duterte.
Recently, a news report in Inquirer stated another claim of the self-confessed ‘hitman’ of the former mayor of Davao City. It is stated in the report that Matobato said that he saw Duterte kill for eight times.
Speaking to a team of Inquirer.net in a safe house during an interview, Matobato claimed that seven times happened in Ma-a – a district in the City of Davao according to the report.
The report also stated that Matobato said that it was between year 1998 and year 2000 when the alleged killings happened. However, the personal identities of those who were allegedly killed and as well as the details of the incidents could not be provided by Matobato.
Based on the report, it was only the details about the eight victim that could be remembered by Matobato. The eight victim was an agent of the National Bureau of Investigation whom he identified as ‘Amisola’.
According to Matobato, kidnappers were being chased by the alleged Davao Death Squad when the vehicle of the NBI agent blocked the street and then one of the men of the former Davao City Mayor got into an argument with Amisola and then a gunfight.
Matobato claimed that it was Duterte who emptied two magazines of Uzi on Amisola. The report stated that the allegations of the self-confessed ‘hitman’ could not be ‘independently confirm’ by Inquirer.
