Update on the DOH Record of COVID-19 Cases in the Philippines
DOH – The Department of Health reported 209 new cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines today, April 18.
More than 200 countries across the globe now are fighting a common invisible enemy – the 2019 coronavirus or COVID-19. This pandemic has infected over two (2) million people across the globe.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is going to be a long-term battle against coronavirus. The said disease was first recorded in China which is already recovering now while other countries are still facing an outbreak.
One of the countries implementing measures to curb the spread of the disease is the Philippines. The first COVID-19 fatality outside China was recorded in PH in February.
Now, there are thousands of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines. Based on the recent report of the Department of Health (DOH), 209 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the country bringing the total cases to 6,087.
With regards to the death toll, 10 new deaths were recorded bringing the total death toll to 397. According to the health department, the total recoveries now is at 29 after 516 new coronavirus patients have recovered.
Currently, the entire Luzon and several provinces in Visayas and Mindanao are under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). The authorities advise everyone to stay at home to curb the spread of the disease.
Several businesses stopped their operations amid the outbreak. Classes were also stopped and most cities and municipalities are implementing the use of quarantine passes when people have to go out for essential purposes only.
