CORONAVIRUS PUIS – Children aging 8 months old and 3 years old listed as persons under investigation (PUI) die in Pangasinan.

The eight-month-old baby girl is the youngest to have died as a PUI in Dagupan City. According to Dagupan City Public Information Office, the baby was admitted last April 14 and died the following. She is suspected to have the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and she died suffering from cough, fever and seizures.

Meanwhile, in San Carlos City, they have recorded the death of a three-year-old boy who died on April 14. He got admitted at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital. His initial diagnosis showed that he has community-acquired pneumonia and acute gastroenteritis. He has no history of going out of their residential area in 14 days. The little boy has congenital heart disease and Down Syndrome.

The Department of Health (DOH) on their April 16 update of coronavirus figures, Philippines now has a total of 5,660 confirmed cases with 362 deaths and 435 recoveries.

In a previous article, the Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque stated that the government is considering declaring total lockdown if tquarantine violators persist. He said, “Tumupad na po tayo sa ating obligasyon at kakaunting panahon na lamang po ang natitira sa ating ECQ. Isang linggo. Konting tulog na lang po ito. Pagtiyagaan na po natin.”

The whole of Luzon was put under enhanced community quarantine which was initially designed to only last until April 12. But due to the continuous increase of coronavirus-infected patients in the country, President Duterte announced to have it last until April 30. This is to curb and prevent the spread of coronavirus.
