Manila Bay Clean-Up Drive Surprises Netizens On Social Media
MANILA BAY – Lots of netizens on the social media were surprised by the way the clean-up drive was done in the Manila Bay, Philippines.
Undeniably, with regards to the natural environment, the Philippines is one of those countries that can be considered rich. Spectacular falls, white sand beaches, and so much more can be found in the said country.
However, there are times that people tend to forget that nature also needs to be taken cared of. Human activities have visibly destroyed nature and put a big part of it to waste. Rivers, lakes, and mountains were greatly affected and clean-up drives undeniably need to be done.
One of those where clean-up drives are conducted is the Manila Bay. However, lots of netizens were disappointed over the clean-up drive for its “publicity” tactic.
Based on an ABS-CBN video report posted on the Facebook account of netizen ‘Aki Baroma’, a sack of wastes was unloaded in Manila Bay and the said trash would be gathered again as part of the clean-up drive. They did it for the sake of documentation.
Former Philippine President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada did not show disagreement towards it considering it as a “publicity” stunt. Here are some of the comments on the video:
“Not even ashamed in admitting it’s a publicity stunt..”
“lang hiya ano yan”
“Daming alam…”
Based on the video, it seems that the way the Manila Bay is being cleaned is so much different from the clean-up methods in abroad. Daniel Chase and John Kellett have come up with a water wheel that cleans pounds of trash in water. It is called Mr. Trash Wheel.
Based on a video posted on the Facebook page In The Know Innovation, the useful invention lifts trash from the bodies of water and deposits them into a “dumpster”. Aside from the river’s current, a solar panel powers the said machine.
What can you say about this?
