Elderly Vendor Touches Many Hearts Through His Appeal
An elderly vendor who is all alone in life touched the hearts of many netizens through his heartfelt appeal.
Recently, the Facebook page Filipino Trending Hub shared photos of the elderly vendor that touched the hearts of netizens. The post quickly went viral and drew many reactions from the online community.
The 79-year-old man was spotted selling shellfish near Miag-ao Church in Iloilo. Netizens were deeply touched by his condition and his humble call for help.
Lolo Tonyo was seen selling halaan under the heat, clearly weak and exhausted. According to those who met him, he had not eaten for days and was already feeling dizzy from hunger. His frail body and trembling hands showed how hard life has been for him.
The elderly vendor could barely move properly, yet he continued to sell just to earn something for food. Lolo Tonyo earns only P5 for every small portion of halaan he sells. The small amount is what he tries to stretch for his daily meals and his fare going home.
Seeing his situation, the people who encountered him decided to buy all of his remaining goods even if they did not really need them. They simply wanted to help ease his burden, even for a short time. Their simple act of kindness gave Lolo Tonyo some relief and hope for the day.
Many netizens shared the post and hoped that more people would come forward to help the elderly vendor. Some also called on local groups and kind-hearted individuals to extend support.

“Sya si Lolo Tonyo 79 years old, nakapwesto sa Miag-ao Church Iloilo. Namataan namin sya na nagtitinda ng halaan. Ang sabi nya samin, “bili na kayo, nahihilo na ko sa gutom, ilang araw na kong walang kinakain, awa nyo na lang sa aking matanda na at mag-isa na lang sa buhay.”
Nang marinig namin yun, binili namin lahat ng paninda nyang halaan kahit hindi naman namin kailangan. Kita sa katawan at mukha ni Lolo Tonyo na wala pa talaga syang kain nanginginig ang kanyang katawan at hindi na makakilos ng maayos.
Kumikita lamang siya ng limang piso kada isang takal na maibenta niya, pinagkakasya ang maliit ng kita para sa kanyang pangkain at pamasahe pauwi sa kanila.
