Former Addict Honors Former President Duterte Following Arrest
A former drug addict has gained attention online after sharing his deep respect and admiration for former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Recently, Chetor Mercado Jimenez, a Facebook user, shared his story of transformation and second chances. The post immediately spread like wildfire on social media and elicited various reactions from netizens.
Jimenez revealed that he was among the thousands arrested and sent to rehabilitation during Duterte’s administration. Instead of harboring resentment, he expressed heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to turn his life around.
Before the War on Drugs was implemented, illegal drugs were widespread, affecting many communities. Drug dens operated in various places, and addiction destroyed countless lives and families.
However, when Duterte took office, he launched a relentless campaign against illegal drugs. Many users and pushers, including Jimenez, were forced to face the consequences of their actions. Some were scared, others resisted, but many, like him, chose to change for the better.
Inside the rehabilitation center, Jimenez found faith and strength in God. At his lowest point, he turned to prayer and discovered a new sense of purpose. His time in rehab allowed him to reflect on his mistakes and work toward a better future.
Now, Jimenez acknowledges that he was once lost in addiction, a burden to society. But through faith and discipline, he was able to break free from his dark past. He credits Duterte as one of the key figures in his transformation, calling him a brave and strong leader who made a difference in many lives.

Isa ako sa libo-libong nakulong at dumaan sa rehabilitasyon noong panahon ni Tatay Digong. Pero sa halip na magalit, buong puso akong nagpapasalamat kay Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte sa pagbibigay sa akin ng pangalawang pagkakataon sa buhay.
Bago pa man ipatupad ang War on Drugs, laganap ang droga sa bawat sulok ng ating bansa. Kahit saan ka lumingon, may adik, may drug den. Ang lason ng bisyo ay sumisira ng buhay at pamilya. Pero nang dumating ang matapang na lider na handang harapin ang salot na ito, unti-unting nagbago ang kalagayan ng ating bayan. Ang mga pusher at user, kabilang ako, ay natakot, nagising, at ang iba ay napilitang magbagong-buhay.
Sa loob ng rehabilitation center, doon ko tunay na nakilala ang Panginoon. Sa gitna ng aking pagbagsak, Siya ang naging sandigan ko. Napagtibay ko ang aking pananampalataya, at sa Kanya ko natagpuan ang liwanag sa kabila ng dilim na bumalot sa aking buhay.
Ngayon, alam ng lahat ng nakakakilala sa akin—ako noon ay isang salot ng lipunan, naligaw ng landas at nilamon ng bisyo. Pero binago ako ng Diyos, iniahon Niya ako mula sa madilim kong nakaraan.
