BI Speaks on Dismissed Mayor Alice Guo amid Reported Departure from PH
ALICE GUO – The Bureau of Immigration confirmed that the dismissed Mayor of Bamban, Tarlac is now in Indonesia.
A lot of Filipinos were once again left frustrated after reports that dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Guo has departed the Philippines surfaced. It has been more than a month since a Senate arrest order against Guo was issued but the authorities failed to locate her.
Previously, Senate President Chiz Escudero even chided the PNP for not being able to locate Guo. She is faced with several allegations including her alleged involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in the country.
Guo is also being questioned regarding her identity. Her fingerprints matched with the fingerprints of Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national. Her brother’s fingerprints also matched with the fingerprints of a Chinese citizen.
Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is also accused of tax evasion. The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has filed a Php 500 tax evasion case against the dismissed Mayor.
The Office of the Ombudsman recently ordered the dismissal of Alice Guo as mayor of Bamban, Tarlac as well as the forfeiture of all of her retirement benefits. The dismissed Mayor is also no longer allowed to run for any public office in the Philippines.
However, recently, the Filipinos were left dismayed after Senator Risa Hontiveros revealed that there’s a document claiming that dismissed Mayor Alice Guo has left the Philippines. According to the lawmaker, Guo left the country last July 17 and arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia the following day.
Hontiveros also expressed that the dismissed Mayor went to Singapore to meet her family. The lawyer of Guo, Attorney Stephen David, asserted that his client is still in the Philippines saying that he has asked her.
Based on a report on GMA News, the Bureau of Immigration recently confirmed that dismissed Mayor Alice Guo is now in Indonesia. According to immigration bureau’s spokesperson Dana Sandoval, the dismissed Mayor arrived in Indonesia on August 18.
Sandoval told Super Radyo dzBB that the BI is now backtracking the movements of the dismissed Mayor to identify the people behind her travel. The BI previously said that Guo has left the country without passing the immigration.
