“Spider-Man”-Like Thief Arrested After Breaking Into Pharmacy

Authorities Arrest “Spider-Man”-Like Thief for Breaking Into Pharmacy in QC

A “Spider-Man”-like thief was arrested after allegedly breaking into a pharmacy in Barangay Talipapa, Quezon City.

In the early hours of Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the 19-year-old suspect caught attention because of the unusual way he entered the establishment, with his movements being compared to a scene from an action movie.

Security camera footage showed the suspect climbing onto the roof of the building before removing sections of the metal roofing. He then created an opening in the ceiling and successfully made his way inside the pharmacy.

“Base sa imbestigasyon binaklas ng suspek ang bubong at sinira ang kisame para makapasok sa loob ng drugstore,” Police Captain Elvin Olmedillo said.

According to police investigators, the man carefully dismantled parts of the roof and damaged the ceiling to gain access to the store without being noticed.

Once inside, the suspect allegedly took more than P100,000 in cash from the pharmacy’s cash register along with a mobile phone. The break-in was only discovered later that morning when a pharmacist arrived for work and noticed signs that the establishment had been robbed.

Authorities were immediately informed, prompting police officers to launch a follow-up operation.

Using CCTV footage and facial profiling, investigators were able to identify the suspect. Police said officers recognized some of his distinct physical features, including his eyebrows and dyed blond hair. He was eventually located and arrested in a neighboring barangay shortly after the incident.

Authorities also found that the suspect had previously been involved in cases related to illegal drugs, gambling, theft, and illegal possession of firearms. During his arrest, police recovered the stolen mobile phone and around P20,000 in cash. The shirt he allegedly wore during the robbery was also recovered.

The suspect admitted to taking the money and told authorities that most of the cash had already been spent. He reportedly claimed that financial difficulties pushed him to commit the crime.

Police reminded business owners to install CCTV cameras and secure large amounts of cash in vaults or safes. Authorities said surveillance footage played a major role in identifying and locating the suspect, who now faces a robbery complaint.

Sa mga establisyimiento po malaking tulong talaga na may CCTV na gamit natin para makilala yung suspek,” Olmedillo added.
