BIR Speaks on Tax Evasion Complaint vs. Alice Guo amid Dismissal from Post
ALICE GUO – The BIR filed a tax evasion complaint against the dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor over the transfer of her company shares.
Different offices in the Philippine government have filed complaints against dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Guo. Previously, the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) filed a quo warranto petition, a writ that challenged her eligibility to hold a public office.
The Senate panel also mulled over filing a formal case against the dismissed Mayor. As for the Commission on Election, COMELEC filed a misrepresentation complaint against Mayor Guo.
The Office of the Ombudsman recently ruled ordering the dismissal of Mayor Guo. The Ombudsman found her guilty of grave misconduct after acquiring a property that became a POGO hub.
Recently, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) also filed a Php 500,000 tax evasion complaint against dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, it is over the transfer of her shares in Baofu Land Development.
According to the tax-collecting bureau, they found out that there was no payment of the capital gains tax (CGT) and the documentary stamp tax (DST) returns in the transfer of the dismissed Mayor’s shares to a certain Jack Uy.
BIR also filed a tax evasion complaint against the buyer of Guo’s shares in Baofu Land Development and Rachelle Joan Malonzo Carreon, Baofu’s corporate secretary.
Based on the report, the Bureau of Internal Revenue said that it was checking on the other businesses of dismissed Mayor Alice Guo. Thus, she may be facing other tax complaints. Meanwhile, the tax-collecting bureau assured that the dismissed Mayor will be given a due process but she may be facing another case if she won’t pay her tax deficiencies.
Dismissed Mayor Guo has yet to surface amid a pending Senate arrest order. The upper chamber released an arrest order after Guo refused to attend two (2) hearings set. Amid a pending arrest order, she also skipped another hearing set by the upper chamber.
The authorities visited the farm and the garments factories of Mayor Guo but found negative presence. Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero expressed his disappointment that the PNP has yet to locate Guo.
