Olivia Quido Recalls Her Time As A Judge For Miss Universe
OLIVIA QUIDO – Skin expert Olivia Quido shares her experience serving as a judge at the 71st edition of the Miss Universe Pageant.
Filipino-Chinese businesswoman and beauty specialist Olivia Quido-Co is the CEO and creator of O Skin Spa in the US. She too has a warehouse where the goods that are ready for international transportation are kept.
The 71st Miss Universe Pageant has Olivia as one of the judges. You probably recall how the avid Filipino pageant fans were in complete shock when the competition’s Top 16 round did not include Celeste Cortesi, our representative at the Miss Universe Pageant, on the pageant’s coronation night in New Orleans, Louisiana, in January. The ‘Olivia Quido Skincare’ is the official partner of the prestigious pageant.
Many pageant enthusiasts were devastated that the Philippines failed not to place for the first time since 2010. They were at least interested in learning why Celeste lost the competition.
The skin expert recently agreed to participate in The Interviewer Presents for the Boy Abunda Talk Channel on YouTube. Host Boy Abunda asked her about Celeste’s failure to make the Top 16. Celeste was one of the early favorites in the 71st Miss Universe Pageant when Olivia served as one of the judges.
“When I first saw her pictures on Instagram, I found her so beautiful and her winning potential was so high. But during the contest, a lot of candidates really shone on stage,” said Olivia.
“When Miss Philippines came out on stage, she was beautiful, pero hindi masyadong alam mo ‘yung tinatawag na stage presence? Hindi lumabas masyado ‘yung glow, ‘yung hinahanap namin na glow. Nandoon ‘yung ganda, ‘yung damit maganda, but I would say, well, I don’t know what exact words to use but when I saw her, I was looking for that ‘glow,’ the stage presence and the aura (factors) that the judges were looking for,” she added.

Miss USA R’Bonney Gabriel, who bested 83 contestants, was named Miss Universe 2022. On the other hand, Miss Venezuela Amanda Dudamel came in first runner-up. R’Bonney, who is half Filipino and half American, emerged as a very strong competitor that evening, Olivia said.
“When she came out with a cape, that, for me, really made an impact because she didn’t catch my attention when I initially saw her. But when she appeared on stage that night, I could hear the rest of the judges sigh in admiration because there was something about her na ‘pag labas niya, ang lakas ng dating.”
Olivia said that R’Bonney’s performance was enhanced by the way she interacted with the crowd and the degree of confidence with which she responded to the question. Olivia views beauty as having more to it than just what is visible on the outside.
Olivia has lovely friendships not only with the contestants but also with Miss Universe pageant owner Anne Jakrajutatip. Olivia got to know her before Anne became the owner of the Miss Universe.
