Marina Summers admits that she was affected by Angel Galang’s statement against her regarding her MUPH 2026 hosting performance.
Drag artist Marina Summers made history as the first transwoman to host Miss Universe Philippines 2026, but despite marking this achievement, several people did not like her performance. It prompted them to air their dislike online, and that included Drag Race Philippines Season 3 queen Angel Galang.
In a previous article, Galang apologized to Summers after drag fans and members of the LGBTQIA+ community immediately criticized Angel’s remarks. She expressed deep regret for her previous statements, saying, “Na-overexpress ako at I know na MALI TALAGA AKO. I want to take accountability and responsibility dito mga nak.”
Recently, Summers addressed the issue and admitted that Galang’s words against her hurt her. The drag artist said hosting the pageant is a major milestone in her career, while acknowledging it may draw mixed reactions and some resistance.
“While I was admittedly hurt by her statements, I do not condone any hurtful and hateful words thrown at her because of it. Huwag itong gamiting excuse para manira ng kapwa. It just sets us back and everything we’ve worked so hard for just loses its meaning,” Marina said.
According to her, she and Angel have already talked things through and resolved the matter privately. She asked the people to give Angel her space and understanding. The drag queen also thanked everyone for their love and support.
Meanwhile, MUPH 2025 Ahtisa Manalo crowned Bea Millan-Windorski of La Union as her successor. The members of this year’s selection committee are Kapuso actress Jennylyn Mercado, beauty queen Gazini Ganados, Filipino fashion designer Rhett Eala, celebrity doctor Hayden Kho Jr., Villa Medica Philippines Crystal Jacinto, GMG Productions CEO Carlos Garcia Candal, and Cosmopolitan PH Executive Editor Ida Aldana.
