LTFRB suspends the TNVS unit and summons the driver involved in the case of Xyriel Manabat.
The driver who disrespected actress Xyriel Manabat is being summoned by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
In a previous article, Xyriel Manabat condemned the lewd remarks of the driver she had a ride with from a ride-hailing giant. She was disappointed, and what added to her disappointment was the fact that she treated the driver properly all throughout the ride.

She stressed that this kind of behavior should neither be tolerated nor treated as a form of entertainment. Following the incident, Grab PH conducted an investigation, which led to the suspension of the driver. He was placed under preventive suspension for committing a “grave violation” and a “bannable offense” under the company’s driver guidelines.
Recently, following the incident, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has ordered the suspension of the transport network vehicle service (TNVS) unit. They are also summoning the driver because of the viral incident.
The LTFRB issued a show-cause order requiring the driver to explain why penalties should not be imposed. The driver was also instructed to submit necessary documents and undergo further evaluation as part of the investigation.
The agency underscored that this kind of conduct is unacceptable and reaffirmed its commitment to upholding passenger safety and maintaining professionalism among public utility drivers.
“No woman deserves to be treated this way. This is the reason behind our Bawal Bastos campaign, and this campaign against sexual harassment and discrimination in public transportation will serve as our motivation and basis in holding accountable this TNVS driver,” LTFRB chairperson Vigor Mendoza II said.
The LTFRB’s show cause order requires the driver to undergo a drug test, submit vehicle documents, and explain within 10 days why his franchise should not be revoked.
The LTO, MMDA, and PNP-HPG were also ordered to apprehend and impound the unit if found operating. A hearing has been set for April 28, and failure to appear or submit a written explanation may result in a ₱5,000.00 penalty.
