BFP-Bacolod Helps Young Mother to Give Birth Inside Tricycle

BFP-Bacolod assisted a young mother to give birth inside a tricycle just before reaching a hospital in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. 

On Saturday morning, November 22, 2025, a young woman received timely help after unexpectedly giving birth inside a tricycle just outside the Bacolod City Central Fire Station on San Juan Street. 

The incident happened around 10 a.m. and quickly drew the attention of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel who immediately responded to the emergency.

The 22-year-old woman arrived in active labor while still seated inside the tricycle. Fire responders and Emergency Medical Services personnel stepped in right away to provide medical assistance. 

They checked her condition and began guiding her through the delivery while ensuring both mother and child were safe. Within minutes, the baby girl was delivered successfully on the scene. 

After the birth, responders continued monitoring the mother and her newborn. They provided first aid and made sure the two were in stable condition before transporting them to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for further medical care.

Initial reports indicated that both mother and baby were doing well upon arrival at the hospital. 

Officials from BFP Bacolod shared that the quick response was made possible because the incident happened right outside the station. The team, led by City Fire Marshal FSUPT Jenny Mae Masip and supported by EMS and duty personnel, acted swiftly and professionally to manage the unexpected situation.

“A Baby’s First Cry at the Bacolod City Fire Station  

Earlier today, the Bacolod City Fire Station, headed by FSUPT JENNY MAE C MASIP, City Fire Marshal, together with the Shift B personnel under the supervision of SFO1 Mohammad Saleh Ahmad T Albadarneh, Shift B Supervisor, successfully responded to an emergency childbirth case. 

At 10:10 AM, a 22-year-old female patient, arrived as a walk-in at the Central Fire Station while in the second stage of labor. She was found conscious (GCS 15) inside a tricycle. 

The delivery was safely managed on-scene by the EMS Team led by FO3 Trecho, FO1 Gabrido with support from all duty-shift B personnel.  

At 10:12 AM, the newborn was delivered with a stable condition. 

Following post-delivery assessment, both mother and baby were transported at 10:20 AM to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for further medical care.
