Priest Calls for Immediate Rehabilitation of Two Damaged Schools in Quezon

A priest has called for the immediate rehabilitation of two public schools heavily damaged by Typhoon Uwan.

Father Jonard Parale, parish priest of St. Raphael the Archangel Parish in Burdeos, Quezon, has appealed to the Department of Education (DepEd) for the immediate rehabilitation of two public schools heavily damaged by Typhoon Uwan.

According to Father Parale, the Calutcot Integrated School and Bonifacio National High School were among the worst-hit facilities during the storm. These schools serve as vital learning centers for students in Barangay Calutcot and Barangay Bonifacio, providing education and hope for many young residents.

He shared that these schools play a big role in shaping the future of their community’s children. However, because the buildings are located near the coastline and often exposed to strong typhoons, they are easily damaged during severe weather.

Father Parale urged the government to rebuild them using stronger and safer materials to withstand future disasters.

He also expressed hope that DepEd would provide the necessary funding and attention to speed up the repair work, ensuring that students can return to their classrooms as soon as possible.

For many children in the area, school is not only a place to learn but also a safe space amid the challenges of recovery.

Father Parale further appealed to local officials and private organizations to extend their help in rebuilding the damaged classrooms. He emphasized that cooperation between government and community members is key to restoring education in Burdeos.

His call comes after the devastation brought by Super Typhoon Uwan across several parts of Quezon Province, where many buildings, homes, and school facilities were destroyed, leaving communities struggling to recover.
