Awra Briguela Admits Emotional Toll of Continued Cyber Harassment Following 2023 Arrest
AWRA BRIGUELA – The 2023 controversy may already be over legally, but for Awra Briguela, the emotional scars and online bashing remain.
Social media personality Awra Briguela has opened up about the lasting emotional impact of the 2023 bar brawl incident, revealing that she continues to face criticism online years after the controversy. During her interview on “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda” on Friday, August 7, the former child star became emotional as she talked about how the incident and the continued backlash have affected her life, particularly now that she is in college.
Awra was involved in an incident at a bar in Poblacion in June 2023, which eventually led to her arrest and became the subject of widespread public discussion.
“After ng pagkakamali ko, marami pa rin ang mga sinasabi,” Awra said tearfully.
She admitted that the continuing criticism has become difficult to deal with and that there were moments when she felt like giving up.
“Up until now po na nag-aaral ako, lalo na ngayong college ako, araw-araw po ayoko na po talaga.”
Despite the emotional struggle, Awra said she continues to persevere because of her family, who depend on her.
“Pero kung ako lang po, ayoko na talaga, kasi kahit naman po anong gawin ko, parang wala lang po,” she admitted.
While she acknowledged the mistake that led to the controversy, Awra emphasized that she does not want to justify what happened. Instead, she said she has learned from the experience and accepted responsibility for her actions.
“Hindi ko ide-defend yung pagkakamali ko and yung pagkakamali, kailangan matuto ka talaga.
“And kung talagang nagsisisi ka, hindi mo na uulitin. Nagsisi po talaga ako sa ginawa ko.
“Gusto ko lang pong ma-realize ng mga tao at ipaalaala sa kanila na I was just kid, I was a teenager, nineteen years old lang po ako nang mangyari yon,” said Awra.
Awra said she understands why some people became angry with her following the incident. However, she admitted that she struggles to understand why some individuals continue to hold on to the issue years later.
“Kasi lahat naman po ng ginagawa ko ngayon is para sa sarili ko po. ‘Yung nangyari pong yon is matagal nang tapos and yung mga cases po dismissed na. Halos isang taon ko po na hinarap yung kaso and humingi po talaga ako ng tawad sa lahat ng involved privately at nag-take po talaga ako ng accountability.”
For Awra, the experience remains a painful chapter, but she hopes people will also recognize her growth and allow her to move forward.
