Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto Shows Salaries for July, August
TITO SOTTO – The Senate Minority Leader will give more than P471,000 which is his salaries for July and August to poor students.
One of the seasoned lawmakers in the Senate in the 20th Congress is Senate Minority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto. He was the Senate President during the 18th Congress. He ran for vice president in the 2022 Elections but he lost.

During the 2025 Midterm Polls, Sotto was endorsed by the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago supported by President Bongbong Marcos. Upon the opening of the 20th Congress, he vied for the Senate Presidency.
However, Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto lost to Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero who managed to remain in his post. With regards to the issue of the impeachment case against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte in the Senate, the Senate Minority Leader is one of those who wanted the trial to push through.

However, with a 19-4-1 voting, the Senate archived the case. Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto only wished for “God to have mercy” after the Senate archived the impeachment case against Vice Pres. During the campaign period for the 2025 Midterm Elections, then-senatorial candidate Sotto vowed to use his salaries during his six-year term to support the deserving but financially underprivileged students. Recently, the now-Senate Minority Leader started fulfilling his campaign promise.

Based on a report on Inquirer, in a Viber message to reporters, Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto showed a photo of himself holding a check that would be used to help support the education of deserving but underprivileged students. The check amounts to over P471,000 which are the salaries of the Senator for July and August.
“As I promised during the campaign, I will give this to those who need financial assistance, particularly in the field of education, to help students who are struggling in life,” the Senate Minority Leader said.
According to Sotto’s office, the said check was deposited in a bank account made for the scholarship program. Based on the report, it also said that there is no foundation as the scholarship is offered directly through the office. They have started with the screening of the scholarship requests and have already approved one (1) out of 18 applications.

Previously, Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto also refiled the bill seeking for 14th-Month Pay for the employees of the private sector.
