Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Marcos Jr. Admin’s War against Drugs
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President criticized the order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos to increase the police patrols in the fight against criminality.
The previous administration remains most popular for its war on drugs. However, it gained different reactions from the people. Some people were impressed by the anti-drugs campaign while others criticized its alleged manner.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is currently detained under the custody of the ICC (International Criminal Court) for the alleged crimes against humanity over his administration’s war on drugs. Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos confirmed that his admin will continue to fight illegal drugs in the country.

According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the war against drugs under his admin will be a “bloodless war”. He stressed that there won’t be killings of people who are suspected involved in the drug problem in the country. He also highlighted that the government will strengthen the prevention and the rehabilitation.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos also wants the heightened implementation of the laws against illegal drugs as well as the increasing of police patrols. According to him, the people should feel safe.
However, the step that Pres. Bongbong Marcos wants the government to take did not sit well with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President stressed there are now a lot of technologies available in the market.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte cited drones, robots, and CCTVs among the technologies that the government can use with regards to improving police watch for public safety. She stressed that there are several technologies that can help the police.
“Dapat ang iniisip mo how to modernize, leverage the technology out there to improve the Philippine Police… Bakit nandoon ka pa din sa ilalagay ko ang pulis sa kanto? Nandoon pa din tayo sa 1970s 1980s na magpatrolya ang pulis sa daan,” she said.
Based on the report, when asked about the “bloodless” drug war of the Marcos administration, the Vice President stressed that the results have yet to be seen. She also criticized the President over his photos with the illegal drugs seized and destroyed by the authorities.
“Hindi trabaho ng Presidente na mag photo op sa nahuli na drugs at mag photo op sa pagsira ng nahuli na drugs… Hindi kasi ito photo op, trabaho ito,” Duterte said.
Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte apologized to the Filipinos multiple times for endorsing Pres. Bongbong Marcos in 2022. Recently, Malacañang was asked if Marcos Jr. also regretted his tandem with Duterte.
