Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Government’s New Concept in Fighting Drug Problem

BONGBONG MARCOS – The President announced the new concept of the government’s anti-drugs campaign which he described as “bloodless war”.

One of the biggest problems in the Philippines is the drug problem. It has been one of the center of the Duterte administration as it was the campaign promise of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to eradicate the problem in six (6) months.

However, the Duterte administration was not able to completely solve the Philippines’ drug problem in 6 months. According to former Pres. Duterte who is now detained under the International Criminal Court, he miscalculated the extent of the country’s drug problem.

The Duterte admin’s war on drugs was linked to several deaths. Currently, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is detained under the ICC for more than 100 days now. He is faced with an allegation of crimes against humanity over the drug war of his administration.

Former Pres. Duterte has repeatedly stressed that everything he did during his term was for the country and the Filipino people. Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos confirmed that his administration will continue the war against drugs.

Based on a post on Facebook, Pres. Bongbong Marcos announced that the government must continue the drug war but it will be done in a “bloodless” manner. According to him, there will be no killings of the people who are suspected of involvement in the drug problem in the country.

“We must continue with the war against drugs but we do it in a peaceful way. It has been described as a bloodless war,” the President said.

According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the government will take clear steps under a new concept of drug war. He cited the strengthening of the prevention and rehabilitation as well as the continuous implementation of the laws that are against drugs.

“Mas pinapatibay natin ang ating prevention. Tapos mas pinapatibay natin ang ating rehabilitasyon. ‘Pag nasabit na sa droga ang tao, tinutulungan natin na bitawan niya ‘yang bisyo na iyan. And the of course, continuous enforcement all the drug laws,” he said.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos also said that the authorities will go after both the big and small people in the drug trade. He also wants the drug problems in the streets solved so the people will feel safe.

According to the President, he wants high police visibility so the people will feel safe. Based on the post, he stressed that the government’s new concept of drug war is working.

“Ipagpapatuloy natin ito. The new concept of the war against drugs is working so we will continue down that line. We are beginning to see the good effects of that policy,” Marcos Jr. said.

With regards to the previous administration’s war on drugs, more than 8,500 written pages of evidence against former Pres. Duterte’s ICC case is set to be presented aside from the footage.
