DOE Releases Oil Price Adjustment for Last Week of May 2025

DOE Announced Oil Price Adjustment Next Week

FUEL PRICE UPDATE – The Department of Energy has released the oil price adjustment for the last week of May 2025.

The Energy Department announced that Filipino motorists can expect a mix of fuel price changes as May comes to end. Depending on market factors, some fuel types may go down slightly, while others might see a small increase.

For gasoline, prices could either drop by P0.15 or increase by up to P0.30 per liter. Diesel may stay the same or decrease by 0.40 per liter. Kerosene, however, is likely to have a rollback between P0.20 and P0.40 per liter.

Oil Price Adjustments

The possible adjustments are based on recent trading activity in the Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS), which influences local fuel pricing. Global developments also played a role in the mixed outlook.

“Based on the four-day trading in MOPS (Mean of Platts Singapore) and results of relevant news in the international oil market, we will be expecting a mixed movement in the prices of petroleum products by next week,” DOE Assistant Director Rodela Romero said.

On the other hand, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) remains confident about oil demand rising, which adds upward pressure on prices.

Oil Price Adjustments

Fuel companies usually announce price changes every Monday, with adjustments applied the next day. Just recently, they increased diesel prices by P1.70 per liter, while gasoline and kerosene both went up by P1.20 per liter.

The DOE also confirmed a price freeze on kerosene and 11-kg liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders in the province of Samar. This is in response to the ongoing repairs on the San Juanico Bridge and a state of emergency in the area.

The freeze will run from May 20 to July 19, 2025, unless lifted earlier by the President.

With global factors constantly shifting, motorists are encouraged to stay alert for weekly fuel price announcements.
