Man Dies After Being Stabbed w/ Screw Driver During Altercation in Quezon City
A 29-year-old man lost his life after being stabbed with a screwdriver in Barangay Teachers Village West, Quezon City.
The incident was caught on CCTV, showing an altercation between two groups of men that escalated until the victim collapsed. Authorities reported that the victim and his friends were drinking at his home and decided to buy more alcohol.
While at the store, another group approached them, leading to a heated argument that ended in violence. The victim was rushed to the hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.
“Nung nasa store na sila, mayroong mga lumapit sa kanila. Nagkaroon ng medyo pagtatalo, nagkainitan hanggang sa nauwi sa saksakan,” Quezon City Police District (QCPD) spokesperson Police Captain Febie Madrid said.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested in a police follow-up operation for stabbing the victim. As he is a minor, he was handed over to the Social Services Development Department.
Another suspect, a 19-year-old neighbor of the victim, was also apprehended and is currently detained at Camp Karingal’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit.
According to the 19-year-old suspect, the confrontation happened quickly. He claimed the victim and his group, who were reportedly drunk, confronted him unexpectedly. Another suspect is still at large as the police continue their investigation.
“Nagulat na lang po ako bigla na lang po ako nilusob mga lasing po silang lahat at hindi ko na po alam nangyari noon bigla na lang bumaba yung bata,” he said.
One possible motive for the crime is a prior conflict between the victim and the suspects. The victim had reportedly accused one of them of stealing his bicycle. This was the second time the victim and the suspect had a confrontation.
The suspects now face murder charges as the investigation continues. The case highlights the dangers of unresolved disputes and the consequences of impulsive violence. Residents of the area are left shocked by the tragedy, hoping for justice and an end to such senseless acts.
