PAGASA Says ITCZ to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the ITCZ will bring rain showers over some parts of the country.

On Friday (July 5, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The Intertropical Convergence Zone will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio reported that the Intertropical Convergence Zone will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers over Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

“Itong ITCZ ay naapektuhan ang malaking bahagi ng ating bansa,” Aurelio said.

ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, and the Zamboanga Peninsula.

The ITCZ refers to cloud bands that encircle the globe near the Earth’s equator. It will continue within the next few days.

The easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Aurora and Quirino.

Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The ITCZ will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Mindanao.

The easterlies will bring similar weather conditions over Cagayan Valley and the rest of Central Luzon. The remaining parts of the country will have fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.

The two weather systems may also cause flooding and landslides in these areas during severe thunderstorms.
