Lady Student Falls Victim to Salisi Gang Members at Coffee Shop
ROBBERY INCIDENT – A student allegedly falls victim to Salisi Gang members at a coffee shop in Pasay City.
On Monday, June 3, 2024, a student named Deepthi Sadhwani fell victim to theft by a member of the “salisi gang” at a coffee shop on Coral Street in Pasay City. The incident was caught on CCTV.
The video shows a man pretending to talk on the phone while staring at Deepthi’s bag. He moved the chair where the bag was placed and, when the moment was right, quickly took the bag and hurried out of the coffee shop.
Deepthi explained that she and her friends occupied two tables in the coffee shop. She left her bag unattended to order coffee. After ordering, she returned to her friends, not realizing her bag was at risk.
When she returned to her spot, she discovered her bag was missing. They immediately reported the theft to the police and reviewed the CCTV footage.
“So kahit na you’re just going to get your coffee or go to the bathroom you really need to watch your stuff carefully or you let someone watch your stuff,” Deepthi advised.
She expressed how traumatic the experience was, especially since her laptop, which she used for her studies, was stolen along with other important items. “It’s really hard to back up those files… I didn’t know what to do first,” she added.
Deepthi’s mother, Janet Sadhwani, urged the thief to find honest work. Despite the incident, she is grateful that her daughter was unharmed.
“Sana doon sa taong ‘yun, matuto siyang magtrabaho nang marangal. Hindi ‘yung panandaliang trabaho lang… ‘yung trauma ng anak ko iniisip-isip niya rin kasi pagbalik niya wala na ‘yung buong bag ko gano’n… Sana ‘di na makaulit sa iba,” Janet said.

The Pasay Philippine National Police (PNP) chief P/Col. Samuel Pabonita said that the agency is conducting a follow-up operation regarding the incident. Authorities believe the suspect is part of a larger group, and the coffee shop is cooperating with the investigation.
The police are coordinating with nearby stations to prevent further incidents and catch the suspects. The PNP advises the public to stay alert, especially in crowded places.
The authorities are working to identify the suspect for a swift arrest, and the suspect may face theft charges.
