Police Authorities Arrest Salisi Gang Member Trying to Steal Mobile Phone

BATANGAS CITY – The police authorities arrested a Salisi gang member for trying to steal a mobile phone for a living.

Amiel Kayubat Dela Peña, a resident of Barangay Carreta, Cebu City, found himself detained by law enforcement authorities after being apprehended on Monday evening (March 13, 2023).

He is currently facing charges of theft, which police believe is linked to his association with the notorious “Salisi Gang.” This group is known for its crafty modus operandi, which involves stealing from individuals who are distracted or have left their belongings unattended.

According to Staff Sergeant Leodico Fegi, who is spearheading the investigation on behalf of the Mabolo Police Station, Dela Peña is suspected to have committed the theft in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City.

The suspect was with Juniel Casilid Langamin, a barangay resident when he excused himself under the pretense of peeing. He did, however, steal Langamin’s smartphone, which was later located.

Fortunately, 27-year-old John Henry Godinez, a resident of A.S. Fortuna Street in Barangay Banilad, caught Dela Peña in the act and alerted the authorities. After being apprehended, Dela Peña reportedly admitted to the police that he had made a living through theft.

The authorities are urging citizens to remain vigilant and take precautions to protect themselves and their belongings. Additionally, they are working tirelessly to dismantle the “Salisi Gang” and bring its members to justice, in an effort to promote safety and security within the community.
