Maricel Soriano Kasambahay Issue – The Diamond Star denied that she physically abused her two house helpers.
The said issue happened in 2011. This was when Maricel’s former house helpers May Cachuela and Camille Acojedo filed a complaint against her. They claimed that the actress maltreated and incarcerated them.
This accusation against the veteran showbiz personality was recalled during the Senate hearing on PDEA leaks on May 7.
Maricel Soriano said in her statement during the hearing that she was confused as to why she got involved in the alleged leaked document of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency containing names of personalities who are allegedly drug users.
She said that being there in the Senate with that accusation is both “nakakakaba at nakakatako.”
One of the issues asked of the actress was the allegation that she physically abused her former two house helpers. Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa raised this issue and the veteran actress said that there is no truth to this.
“Hindi po totoo ‘yan. Hindi po,” she said. On the other hand, she said that she had two house helpers who left because they stole something from her. “Kasi ninakawan po nila ako,” the actress said.
“Paano ko naman po bubugbugin, dalawa po sila?” Maricel said. Based on the article in PEP, a source who knew about this issue stressed that the actress couldn’t incarcerate her former house helpers. The source said that there was no lock outside the door of the maid’s quarter and their room had its own exit door.
At that time, the two house helpers asked Mon Tulfo’s help to file a complaint against Maricel. However, based on the report, the layout of the condo unit of the actress showed that it was impossible that they would be locked up in their room.
