The Manila Police District apprehended the man, believed to be involved in stealing manhole covers from various parts of Malate. According to the police, Barangay 733 personnel caught the suspect in the act of theft.
Malate Police Station Commander Pltcol. Nelson Cortez reported that when the suspect was apprehended, he was found carrying an improvised shotgun and a bullet.
The suspect admitted to the theft but denied stealing manhole covers from other barangays. He claimed it was his first time committing such a crime and that he only did it out of necessity. He planned to sell the manhole cover to a junkshop for P300.
