The office of President Bongbong Marcos took this initiative to help earthquake victims
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. announced that the Office of the President (OP) will provide P50,000 for each family affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that shook several areas in Mindanao on Monday, June 8, particularly in Sarangani.
Last Monday, devastating scenarios circulated online as netizens shared how the earthquake in Mindanao brought shock to many people.
Many houses and establishments were destroyed, including classrooms and public structures. Several prominent personalities have already expressed willingness to help the earthquake victims.
Based on the report from Balita, Pres. Bongbong Marcos personally visited General Santos High School, which was also reported by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
During his visit, PBBM said that there will be a ₱50,000 immediate cash assistance for every family with casualties, victims, or deaths due to the extremely strong earthquake.
“Lahat ng pamilya na mayroon silang casualty, nabiktima, nasawi ay magbibigay tayo ng tigfi-50,000 (pesos) para sa kanila, para tulong doon sa kanila,” the Chief Executive of the Philippines said.
He also announced that the Office of the President has already provided P100 million from the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) for the repair of General Santos City Hall, and this was already given to Mayor Lorelie Geronimo Pacquiao.
On that day, PBBM also checked the school classrooms that were affected by the quake. He said that it should be ensured that the classrooms are safe, and the engineers assessed the situation of the structures, whether they can still be used or not.
“Ang DBM naman (Department of Budget and Management) ay magbibigay ng pondo, mula na naman sa LGSF, para sa imprastruktura sa Sarangani Province at saka sa South Cotabato. At mayroon ding damage doon. Pero dito talaga ang pinaka — Sarangani is really the hardest hit,” President Bongbong Marcos said.
