Details about the Different Valid IDs in the Philippines & How To Obtain Them

Undeniably, among the documents that are often part of the requirements in applying for a loan, in filing for a claim of a benefit offer, in buying a property, and in many legal transactions is a valid ID. In fact, many transactions require at least two (2) valid IDs as proof of identity of a person.
Actually, even in opening a bank account, you need to have a valid identification document. There are several valid IDs in the Philippines that you can present but there are requirements that you must present as well as processes that you have to go through in getting them.
Here are some of the valid IDs in the Philippines and the documentary requirements that you need to submit to the body that issues these identification documents:
LTO Driver’s License
The LTO Driver’s License is issued by the Land Transportation Office. Here are the requirements in applying for it:
- Driver’s License Application Form
- Original and photocopy of PSA-authenticated birth certificate and/or marriage certificate
- Tax Identification Number
- Medical examination certificate
- Theoretical driving course certificate
SSS UMID Card
It can be obtained from the Social Security System and it is exclusive to the members of the state-run social insurance institution. Here are the requirements in obtaining for an SSS UMID card:
- Duly-filled UMID application form
- A copy of one valid government-issued ID
PhilHealth ID
This ID is issued by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation to its members. To apply for it, here are the documents needed:
- Duly-filled PhilHealth Member Registration Form
- 1 x 1 ID picture (2 pieces)
- Photopcy of PSA-authenticated birth certificate and/or marriage certificate
- Two valid government-issued IDs
TIN ID
The TIN ID or the Tax Identification Number ID is issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue or BIR, the country’s tax-collecting body. However, the list of the TIN requirements may vary depending of the applicant is locally-employed, self-employed, a corporation, etc.
Postal ID
The Postal ID is issued by the PHLPost or the Philippine Postal Office. It is one of the fastest to get. You just have to prepare the following documents and submit them to PHLPost:
- Two copies of accomplished Postal ID application form
- Proof of identity and address
PRC ID
The PRC ID is issued by the Professional Regulation Commission to professionals or board exam passers. Here are the requirements in getting this type of identification document which is one of the valid IDs in the Philippines while it stays within its validity period:
- Duly accomplished application form
- One passport-size picture on white background with a full name tag
- CPD units earned
- Special Power of Attorney and valid ID if filed through a representative
Senior Citizen ID
There are several benefits for senior citizens who have a Senior Citizen ID which can be applied for at the OSCA office or the designated LGU office in your area. Here are the documents required in getting it:
- Application form from the Office of the Senior Citizen’s Affairs (OSCA)
- Birth certificate or any proof of the applicant’s age
