2 High School Students Found Carrying Pellet Guns Outside School Raising Concern Online
Two junior high school students in Zamboanga City were found carrying pellet guns outside their school, raising concerns about safety.
The incident was learned after a video showed one of the students standing outside the school fence while holding two pellet guns. Moments later, the student reportedly called a classmate from inside the campus to help bring the pellet guns into the school grounds.
School officials immediately responded and confiscated the pellet guns before any harm could occur. According to the students involved, the pellet guns were not intended to threaten or hurt anyone inside the school.
The Grade 7 and Grade 8 students explained that they carried the items because they were afraid of individuals who allegedly shoot pellet guns near the school. They claimed that the pellet guns were meant only for self-defense.
Despite their explanation, school authorities reminded students that bringing any type of firearm or even replica weapons into school premises is strictly prohibited. These rules are in place to protect students, teachers, and staff and to maintain a safe learning environment.
Many parents and community members expressed support for stronger security measures to ensure the safety of children while they are attending classes.
Following the incident, the school principal said that both students, along with their parents, were required to undergo counseling. School officials hope that the sessions will help the students better understand school policies and encourage safer ways of dealing with their concerns.
To prevent similar incidents in the future, security measures around the school have also been strengthened. Personnel have been assigned to monitor the area outside the campus and help ensure the safety of students.
