Kris Bernal had this statement about Kim Chiu
Kapuso actress Kris Bernal said that she aspires to reach the kind of popularity that Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu has.
Kris rose to fame after winning as the “Ultimate Love Team,” alongside actor Mart Escudero, in the fourth season of the Kapuso reality talent search StarStruck in 2006.
Eventually, she was paired with actor Aljur Abrenica, and their loveteam was known as AlKris. Together, they did several projects that boosted their careers in the entertainment industry.
However, in a recent podcast interview, Kris Bernal admitted that the popularity she wanted to achieve was the kind that happened to Kim Chiu.
Kim rose to fame after winning the first teen edition of the Kapamilya reality show Pinoy Big Brother. Until now, Kim has been very active in showbiz; she has teleserye and movie projects, and she is also one of the main hosts of the Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime.
Aside from these stints, Kim also has several endorsement projects. In Kris’s case, there was a time when she was not active in doing acting projects.
In a podcast episode of Say Wuht Podcast, hosted by Gee Canlas and Abby Asistio, Kris admitted that she wanted the fame that Kim has achieved.
“Kasi gusto ko yung. kasi si Kim Chiu kasi nakasabayan ko halos sabay kami, gusto ko yung ganoon sikat eh. Yung hanggang ngayon sikat eh. Ang dami pa ring nangyayari sa career niya,” Kris said.
A netizen shared a clip of the podcast on Reddit, and many Redditors believed that it was just a matter of how Kris was managed by GMA Network.
Many netizens pointed out that Kris Bernal is a good actress, but this was not maximized by the Kapuso network, compared to how ABS-CBN managed Kim Chiu’s career.
