PAGASA Says LPA’s Trough and Northeast Monsoon to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that LPA’s trough and amihan will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Tuesday (January 30, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The trough of a low-pressure area and northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather.

PAGASA specialist Grace Castañeda reported that the northeast monsoon and the trough of the Low Pressure Area will bring cloudy skies, and rains over parts of the country.

LPA’s trough cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will bring Caraga, Davao Region, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, and Southern Leyte.

The amihan will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, Bicol Region, and the rest of Eastern Visayas.

The monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas.

The trough of LPA and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Mindanao.

The low pressure has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone or entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The weather agency has warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

The coldest temperature in the country was recorded in La Trinidad, Benguet last October 2024 during the onset of the amihan season.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Southern Luzon, Visayas, and the northern and eastern sections of Mindanao will be rough. Northern Luzon as well as the rest of the country will have moderate to rough surrounding sea conditions.

Gale warnings were raised over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon, and eastern seaboards of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, according to PAGASA.
