Robin Padilla praised Jo Koy
Senator Robin Padilla shared a post dedicated to Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy amid the bashing he received because of his jokes in his Golden Globes hosting stint.
Jo Koy was criticized by many netizens as his jokes did not sit well with them. In a statement after the awards night, the Fil-Am comedian said that he acknowledged the negative reactions to his hosting stint.
He also explained his joke featuring Taylor Swift. Jo Koy said that it was mainly intended for the National Football League and not directly to the singer-songwriter.

In a Facebook post that Senator Robin Padilla shared amid this issue, he commended Jo Koy and his performance as the host of the 81st Golden Globe Awards, based on the article in Balita.
“Mabuhay ka, maestro Jo Koy. Hindi sa lahat ng panahon ay tayong mga Pilipino ang ginagawang katatawanan. Saludo ako sa iyo,” the lawmaker said.
Sen. Padilla also pointed out that what Jo Koy did showed equality regardless of race, especially when it comes to jokes.

“Walang lahi. Walang kulay. Pantay-pantay lang tayo sa mundong ito. Walang superior. Walang inferior. Lalo sa mga jokes,” the actor-turned-politician shared.
He also stressed that a Filipino was chosen to host the said event and Americans should not be too sensitive of their style of joking.
“Bato-bato sa langit tamaan wag magalit. It’s a joke,” he said.
When it comes to the bashing that Jo Koy received, Sen. Robin Padilla said that bashers only made the Fil-Am comedian more popular.
