Lala Sotto Called Out Online After It’s Showtime Got Suspended

Conflict of interest? Netizens online called out Lala Sotto after MTRCB suspended It’s Showtime.

Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) chairman Lala Sotto called out online following the suspension of It’s Showtime.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Diorella Maria “Lala” Sotto-Antonio to be the new chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB). She is the daughter of former Senate president Vicente Sotto III.

Previously, the MTRCB summoned the producers of It’s Showtime for the alleged indecent acts of the show’s hosts Vice Ganda and Ion Perez

This has caught the attention of many people. They were wondering why Vice Ganda and Ion were summoned while his father remained untouched despite kissing her mother on the neck on national television as a joke.

It's Showtime Suspension

The scene last June ultimately led MTRCB to suspend Showtime.

However, many netizens aired different opinions online. Some wondered why while some called out the MTRCB chair Lala Sotto for giving such punishment to the show while disregarding the mistakes of his father’s noontime show.

A conflict of interest – many people insisted on this.

Here are some comments from X (formerly Twitter):

remind ko lang kayo sa pagmumura ni Wally Bayola

Ng dahil sa ka cheapan na Cake?? Napaka OA niyo MTRCB and Lala

Halatang-halata mga galawan mo! Follow-up ko lang sana ‘yung pagmumura ni Wally Bayola sa national TV.

Bias and must RESIGN due to conflict of interests!

Sana inuna mo muna tong kababuyan na ginawa ng mga magulang mo bago yung iba

Imagine they suspended the program over a simple act wherein the rival show has explicitly portrayed problematic behavior in the past.

In a previous article, the following were the added warnings of the Kapamilya show:

Case no. 1: Hosts Jhong Hilario and Vice Ganda uttered the word “G Spot” on the January 24, 2023 episode.

Case no. 2: Host Vhong Navarro uttered the word “Tinggil” on the June 3, 2023 episode.
