Floating Community Pantry Malolos, Bulacan Launches Brings Relief Goods to Flood-Affected Residents
The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Longos, City of Malolos, Bulacan, launched a floating community pantry in flood-affected communities.
Miel Agustin, who works as the SK chairman, shared photos of a boat filled with vegetables and various food items, bravely navigating the high waters to provide assistance to their flood-stricken community.
The post quickly circulated online, garnering various reactions from internet users.
The innovative idea of a โfloatingโ community pantry was born out of the limited access to groceries caused by massive flooding in the area. The spirit of Bayanihan was evident as the boat roamed around the village, distributing relief goods to the flood-affected residents who were unable to leave their homes due to the floods.
Approximately 80 percent of Barangay Longos remains submerged in floodwaters, making it difficult for residents to access markets and basic necessities.
The innovative boat, braving the floodwaters, contains vegetables, fish, chicken, condiments, eggs, sugar, and other essentials. The residents appreciated the efforts of the SK members and expressed their gratitude for the assistance provided.
