Many Filipinos are working in Korea. A lot of these individuals cannot go home for years because they are in contract. Despite the longing to see and be with their loved ones, these OFWs endure everything for a better future them and their families. Meanwhile, there is an option — the family in PH will be the one who will visit the working member in Korea.
If you plan to visit a family member who is working or living in Korea for good, you must secure a travel visa. It is one of the countries across the globe that requires a visa from visitors before allowing entry.
The authorities in Korea has set requirements for Korean visa application for those who want to fly to the country. The documents mandated by the officials in applying for a travel visa depends on the purpose of travel.
The officers of the Embassy has cited family visits, business, visit of Filipinos married to Korean nationals, and seasonal work as some of the specific purpose of travel to Korea. Thus, they have crafted different requirements under each intent.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines posted this list of requirements for Korean visa application for family visit purpose:
- Application Form
- 1 piece of Passport size colored picture
- Original Passport
- Copy of Passport First Page
- Copy of Invitor’s(Korean/Filipino) Passport First page (or valid ID)
- Invitor’s(Korean/Filipino) Invitation letter (Designated format from Embassy or Hikorea Website/with date and signature)
- Invitor’s(Korean/Filipino) Letter of Guarantee (Designated format from Embassy or Hikorea Website/guarantee period must be 3 years from entry date/with date and signature)
- Invitor’s Letter of Pledge on Illegal stay and Unemployment (Designated format from Embassy or Hikorea Website/with date and signature)
- X-ray Result and Certificate of TB (tuberculosis) Screening (issued from hospitals designated by the Korean embassy within 3months)
- Invitor’s Korean Basic Certificate (detailed, issued within 3 months)
- Invitor’s Korean Family Certificate (detailed, issued within 3 months)
- Invitor’s Korean Marriage History (detailed, issued within 3 months)
- Korean Resident Registration Certificate (issued within 3 months)
- Korean Family Certificate under Korean’s child (detailed, issued within 3 months) (If pregnant, Pregnancy Certificate, or Maternity Handbook)
- Proof documents of Philippine family relation of Invitor & Invitee such as PSA Birth Certificate and PSA Marriage Certificate
- Documents to prove severe diseases and/or disabilities (if applicable)
- Original PSA Marriage certification or Cenomar
Filipinos married to Korean nationals are required to submit different requirements for visa application. The requirements for Korean visa application for seasonal workers visa application are also different.
Furthermore, there are also different requirements for Korean visa application for businessmen as well as requirements for Korean visa application for employed individuals that must be submitted to the Embassy.
