PAGASA: Signal No. 2 Still Up in Some Areas Due to Tropical Storm Maymay 

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Thursday (August 6, 2026)

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that signal no. 2 is still up in some areas due to the effects of Tropical Storm Maymay. 

On Thursday (August 6, 2026), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Storm Maymay will continue to affect the country’s weather conditions. 

PAGASA weather specialist Leanne Loreto reported that Tropical Storm Maymay was last spotted within the vicinity of San Juan, Ilocos Sur. It has maximum sustained winds of 65 km per hour and gustiness of up to 110 kph.

“By tomorrow, Friday, August 7, we expect Typhoon Mamay to dissipate or weaken into a low-pressure area. The dominant weather system will then be the southwest monsoon,” Loreto said.

Maymay is also expected to weaken into a low-pressure area on Friday (August 7). 

Meanwhile, Typhoon Dolphin outside the Philippine area of responsibility has strengthened the southwest monsoon. It was last spotted 1,480 km east of northeast Extreme Northern Luzon with maximum wind of up to 150 kph and gustiness of up to 185 kph. 

“Typhoon Dolphin will intensify or draw the southwest monsoon toward Luzon and the western sections of the Visayas. Therefore, we can expect continuous rainfall here in Luzon and the western sections of the Visayas from tomorrow through the weekend due to the southwest monsoon,” Loreto added.
