PAGASA released an update about Maymay PH, a tropical storm.
MAYMAY PH UPDATE – As of the latest from PAGASA, these are the areas where Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 and 2 are hoisted.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has recently released the latest information about Maymay, the tropical storm after Kiyapo PH. Based on the latest bulletin, its center was at 115 km west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur (17.8°N, 119.4°E).
It has maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 90 km/h, and central pressure of 996 hPa, moving east northeastward at 10 km/h.
According to the track and intensity outlook, Maymay is expected to make landfall over the Ilocos Norte–Ilocos Sur–La Union area tonight or early Thursday, August 6, before crossing Northern and Central Luzon and emerging over the eastern coastal waters of Cagayan-Isabela.
As per PAGASA, it may likely remain a tropical storm as it approaches land but may weaken into a tropical depression by Thursday morning and further into a low pressure area by Thursday afternoon or evening. An earlier weakening is possible due to its interaction with land.
PAGASA warned that Maymay’s track could still shift within the forecast cone.
