Grace Poe Airs Frustration with Failed Promotional VIdeo of DOT
Committee on Public Services Chairman Senator Grace Poe expresses frustration on the allegedly “failed” promotional video of the Department of Tourism (DOT).
Poe blasted the DOT’s failure in its “promotional video” for the new tourist tagline “Love the Philippines” in a statement. According to Poe, it appears like the entire country was duped or duped by the advertising after it was determined that the video segments utilized were based on stock footage from Storyblocks.
“Para tayong na-scam sa advertisement na ito,” Poe said in a statement.
She also expressed disappointment that even the government is falling victim to the faults of the marketing strategy, which should have been geared at promoting the Philippines’ unique character, natural beauty, and cultural attractions.
“It has been said that there must be truth in advertising. It’s frustrating to know that even the government can fall victim to blunders in marketing campaign that supposedly aims to promote the Philippines’ unique character, natural beauty and cultural attractions,” he added.
The senator wants to ensure that a similar occurrence does not occur again in the DOT or other government agencies, especially since the public trusts government agencies.
“We expect the incident will not happen again especially to government agencies like the DOT that our people trust,” said Poe.
Meanwhile, Poe is one of the legislators who has expressed strong support for Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco’s attempts to establish the “Love the Philippines” tagline. The Senator applauded the DOT for taking such significant initiatives to promote various locations across the country.
