Taxi Driver Watching Adult Video While Driving w/ Passenger is Currently Under Investigation
A taxi driver in Iloilo City is currently under investigation after allegedly watching an adult video on his cellphone while driving, with a transgender passenger seated beside him.
The incident has prompted local authorities and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Region 6 to launch an inquiry into the matter.
Video evidence captured by the passenger, who goes by the pseudonym “Ken,” has been shared on social media as a warning to other potential victims of such inappropriate behavior by drivers.
The focus of Ken’s concern was primarily his safety, fearing that the driver might be carrying a weapon.
In the video footage, the driver can be seen watching explicit content on his cellphone while also allegedly making inappropriate physical contact with his passenger. The incident left the passenger traumatized, prompting a swift response from local authorities and transportation regulatory bodies.
The Iloilo City local government has reached out to the victim, offering support and initiating an investigation in collaboration with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
The incident has drawn condemnation from various quarters, including Perfecto Yap, President of the Association of Taxi Operators in Panay (ATOP). Yap expressed his disappointment and called for action to be taken, emphasizing the need to address such behavior, even if it is an isolated case.
“Para sa akin even if it is an isolated case somehow we need to act on it whoever is that guy,” Yap said.
Efforts are underway to obtain statements from both the taxi operator and the driver regarding the incident. The investigation aims to establish the facts and ensure appropriate measures are taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
